I got a new counselor this year and I will be applying to colleges in the fall. . .so he doesn't know my personality, etc too well. Will this hurt me?

Had basically the same issue. I went to a HUGE public school though so each counselor basically gets 800 kids so they don't know anybody really well.

What our school does for the secondary school report is that you give them lots of information (teacher recs, a parents recommendation, your resume etc.) and they interview you and then they write the letter.

If you're in the same situation, I wouldn't worry too much (I got into top schools). I would make sure to get to know your counselor better though. Make more appointments and ask him about your college choices etc. So at least he can put a face to a name when the time comes.

However, make sure you know your teachers well. That's much more important imo.
