My current plan

I was wondering what you think of my current plan...

I have a choice between going to UW-Green Bay or UW-Madison for accounting. I didn't get much aid from Madison, but I received $2500 and $1000 renewable scholarships to Green Bay. It would cost 7-8 K less to go to Green Bay a year than Madison, so I plan to go there right away (it helps that I would have very little debt if I stayed there!) However, if I would switch majors, I would lose the $2500, so then I think I would transfer to Madison for sophomore year. I know Madison is a top ten school etc., but do you think this is a good plan right now? Thanks for the help.

Hmmm...if you switch majors and lose the scholarship doesn't the cost advantage of UW-Green Bay over UW-Madison drop to $4500 - $5500?

Honestly, $7-8k premium for UW Madison would be worth it IMHO. Even over 4 years you're talking $28-32k at full cost...and if you transfer, the total premium is $20.5k - $24.5k for Madison. Why hassle the transfer process to save several thousand dollars. If you like Madison better, go for it freshman year.
