<p>my dad just got laid off!!!! and fafsa takes into account last year's income......this year we will have less than 10k because the job market for my dad is really hard right now! and my efc is 24345! we don't even have 10k in the bank right now......what do i do</p>
<p>You wait until you get your financial aid offers, and then you contact the colleges and tell them about your changed circumstances. Some may change your EFC.</p>
<p>Also if you don't have a financial safety that you know you can afford now -- get one. Typically that's a 4-year or 2-year public college within commuting distance.</p>
<p>Best of luck! Remember that even though your dad has been laid off, he still may get employment shortly. There's always that chance.</p>
