my debate

i just read a thread about someone who is deciding if a career in medicine is right for them but it did not answer my question.

i believe that i want to work in the medical field but i just do not know specifically where in the field. two options that i am aware of are med school and graduate school in public health.

i am a sophomore in an undergraduate biomedical science program with a pretty good GPA. i will take organic chem in the fall and to be honest, the things i hear about orgo intimidate me. my concern is that med school is probably more difficult by an order of magnitude.

how do the alternatives for medical schooling (such as public health degrees) compare to Med School? is the work load, etc. more, less or about the same as med school?

MPH is much less difficult and shorter than the MD, no question about it. Two years in a relatively light program compared to four in medical school followed by an 80-hr/wk residency? No contest.

what kinds of things can you do with an MPH?

Well, the good thing with med school is that your almost guarenteed a job when you start your residency. Im not sure about MPH
