My EFC increased to 40 this year.

<p>Hello all. The past two years I've been listed under my mom and had an efc of 0 each year. Now I'm listed under my dad and my efc came out to $40. Will my financial aid package be lower this year?</p>

<p>Your Pell grant will be slightly lower. A $40 EFC is still quite low. You can certainly make that up easily with a summer job.</p>

<p>Other than Pell, it will depend on your school’s policies. For instance both my kids schools only offered SEOG grants to students with 0 EFCs. I believe that is very common. ( At my son’s school they only gave a maximum o $100 for SEOG anyway, but at my daughter’s it is $2,000 - until they run out - which is early - then even 0 EFC students get none)</p>
