I have just submitted my FAFSA application and scored 011176. My parents are in deep debt but I am unable to put that information on the application so they would think my parents are doing well financially basing it only on their income tax return. Need help understanding my EFC score and what else I could do to receive grant. Moved here from the Philippines in June of this year and am currently a Permanent Resident.
You will not be eligible for a Pell Grant. However, you will be eligible for a Direct student loan. You may be eligible for state grants (depending on the state) or scholarships that aren’t based on need. You can also work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer. Most community colleges will be affordable with some combination of work, loan, and/or scholarships/grants.
You must first find out if your community college participates in the direct student loan program because not all colleges participate
