Yes, @pitzerman, please come back, I really want to know your answer to @notteling 's question above. I’m interested in the 5Cs, mostly Pomona and Pitzer, but I want to know if the environment feels like just the 1000 people at Pitzer or more like the 5000 people from all the colleges?

I think the nice thing about going to a Claremont College is, you can have the academic experience of a small liberal arts college, and the social experience of a small to medium sized university. It depends on what you do at Pitzer and across the Claremont Colleges. If you are say a psych major and are really interested in working in the babies lab at Pitzer and doing only Pitzer things and taking only Pitzer classes, it might feel smaller. But if you a psych major and take classes across the Claremont Colleges and participate in 5C clubs, etc and do a mix of PZ and 5C things, it’ll feel more like a small to medium sized university. For the record, I don’t know anyone who has done the former, except maybe Pomona or HMC students. Being part of a consortium, part of the reason you go to a Claremont College is to take advantage of all the resources it offers. So in short it can feel mixed, depending on waht you do.

I think personally I felt clausterphobic at times, and it always depended on what I was doing, or how stressed I was, other times I didn’t feel it. The nice thing is if PZ is starting to feel too small, you can walk across the street and meet new people, join new clubs, take different classes, eat at different dining halls, etc. I would say Pitzer can be a little gossipy, more during the first year (maybe its just more noticable then), but I wouldn’t necessarily say its heirarchical. I don’t think people at Pitzer think of themselves as being heirarchical really. I think wherever you go, large or small, it can be gossipy. Though by going to a small school, it is a little more apparent, becuse you know almost everyone.

Pitzerman, I have read a lot about all the Fulbright Scholars and high med school accept rate, but have not head much about acceptances to other grad schools. I know Pomona and CMC have excellent track records for getting into top grad programs but what about Pitzer for non-med? Any numbers you know/can share?
