Chances for the schools listed, especially, I would like to know about GaTech. I was not selected as a SF for the first round of 350 students, but do you think with my new SAT score I will get notified for the second round of 250 SFs?

Dude, let me just point out… you are an Ivy candidate! you’re actually low-balling your schools; you could go for not only MIT, but go for UPenn and Cornell! Your GPA is perfect, transcript is amazing, SAT’s is basically perfect, EC’s are pretty solid, recs/essays seem good, but here are my chances:

Maryland: In (even w/ Honors, prob full scholarship)

Georgia Tech: In

Hopkins: Match

MIT: Low-Reasonable Reach

Notre Dame: Safety-Match

Vanderbilt: In

not sure about HP?

You’re definitely into UMD and Georgia Tech. ND, Vanderbilt, and Hopkins I’d say you’ll probably get into. Your stats are great, but these schools can be kind of spotty. BUT, I still think you have a great shot none the less. Princeton and Harvard are reaches, but still, I don’t think you have a terrible shot at these schools either. MIT I think you can get into to be honest. Hope that helps and good luck :)

UMD - Saftey - UMD as a safety your going places. lol
GaTech - Match
Johns Hopkins - High Match
MIT - High Reach
ND - Reach
Vandy - Match
HP - Not sure

Here’s my dilemma: I’m looking for the “something special” that gets you accepted. You have great scores and gpa. Your awards are okay, but nothing totally jumps out and says, “Yes!!” except your stats. You’ll have to write some stellar essays that tell us who you are.

I assume you’re a math and science guy. You were on the Science Olympiad team…that’s good. I wasn’t at all clear about your club: *“President of a club (11, 12) - nuclear energy (12), moustaches (11). Had a sideburns contest last year and a couple of speakers.” *

My guess in terms of chances:
Maryland: As an in-stater, you’ll get into their Honors program for sure
Georgia Tech: Likely
Hopkins: Match
MIT: your competition will have done summer research somewhere
Notre Dame: Reach (they have a low acceptance rate)

UMD - In
GaTech - in/ low match
Johns Hopkins - match
MIT - reach for everyone
ND - low reach
Vandy - in
Harvard/Princeton - high reach…for everyone
