My final list :) chances, please!

Okay, so here's some of my basic stats:
Female
Class of '08
Rank 31 out of roughly 750 (top 5% easily)
SAT: 1670 (before you ask, no I am not retaking this)
ACT: Will take on Oct. 21

Awards: HOBY Nomination/Runner-Up, Medal of merit nominee in English, 3 different levels of Science awards (6 offered at my school, but they get increasingly difficult to earn as the level increases), Outstanding English Student (grade 9), Outstanding Modern World History Student (grade 10), Scholar Athlete, Most Dedicated Player, Music Letter, Varsity & JV golf letters

EC's: Women's Golf for 3 years (I wasn't actually on JV, because we don't
have enough girls for a JV team, I just didn't play in enough matches to be considered a varsity player), involved in school's Spring musical for 3 years (Understudy Junior Year, hopefully Lead Role Senior Year), GirlsTalk Club Co-Chair, Cultural Assembly Committee Member, Choir for 9 years, Musical Theatre for 7, church worship team for 3 years this November.

Community Service: As of right now I have about 93 hours. However it's likely I'll have about 130 by graduation. :)

APs/Honors: I took APUSH but only got a 2 on the test. I took Accelerated/Honors English for 3 years and took Honors Science this past year.

Okay, so here comes the fun part.
Colleges I'm applying to (In no particular order):
San Francisco State University (first choice)
BIOLA
Cal State Long Beach
CSU Monterey Bay
Colorado State Boulder
University of Puget Sound
University of Washington Seattle

Oh. Add to that:

Summer stuff: I've attended the National Young Leaders' Conference in Washington, DC and a LeadAmerica Conference on Forensic Science at SDSU.

57 views and not one response? Sniffle I FEEL SO UNLOVED.

Haha just kidding.

hum....i don't know those schools all that well but i think u can get in to some of those schools....hope that helps! (just my two cents: i would REALLY bring up those SAT scores)

I know they're not the best scores, but a lot of CSU's don't look at your SAT scores too strongly if your GPA is above a 3.0 (mine is roughly a 3.8 give or take). UC's/CSU's have a way more holistic approach than a lot of other schools.

Bump /everyone lurves me!/

what type of school do you go to? top 5% with a 1650? did you just have a bad test?

...I guess so...

My school is not competitive at ALL. I can't remember the last time someone from my school went to HYPS. Most of us end up at State schools, which is what we want anyways or we'd probably be at a prep school.

And I would really like it if everyone would stop trying to make it seem like my score is going to stop me getting into those schools when everything else I have is great. I don't know why I even bother with these Chances threads anymore, just ignore this from now on. -.-

Biola (National University, 3rd tier) is the best school on that list and the best fit for someone who seems to take their faith rather seriously.

Go to Biola. This one shouldn't even be a hard choice.

In at all CSUs. Don't know the rest.

If you have about a 3.0 GPA you're in at almost all CSUs. They won't even look at your SAT.

The only problem with Biola is that it's really expensive and not super open to merit-based scholarships from what I've seen (parents make too much money for any type of government aid).

I will most likely end up at SFSU if I get in there. :)

Tell Biola that you are in need of aid and see what sort of package they come up with for you.

lol why don't you retake the SAT and aim higher?

Because I honestly don't think my scores would go up enough to make a difference.

Besides, I honestly don't really need the scores since my GPA is above a 3.0, especially since my first choice is a CSU.

have you taken an ACT practice test? do you have any idea what your score will be?

I got a 26 on my practice test. But I'm going to study like crazy and hopefully that'll go up.

i dont rlly get y u dont retake the sat...

study, and at worst, u'll get a score slightly below what u have now, which wont rlly matter since the schools u r applying 2 now dont pay that much attention to gpa.

if u do however do well it will open up a whole new level of schools that u can get into.

also, i don't know if those r the only schools u r considering, but i would look at some more lac's, especially in the northeast, that dont require sat or act scores.

First.

Did it occur to you guys that those are the schools I WANT to go to? I'm not settling, that's where I want to go.

And wow...northeast is just so far away from home, I don't know if that would work for me.

HisGraceFillsMe, I think you'll be fine. A lot of the people on this board are elitists, they think if you don't get into the best possible score you're an idiot. That being said, SFSU is a great school, and I have a lot of friends going there and who graduated, and I'm sure you'll have a great time there!

Thank you!!!

I'm really excited about it too. I took a trip there for a choir competition in May and I absolutely fell in love with the school and the city. I've already told my parents that if I get in there (which hopefully I will) that's where I'm going, and they told me that was great.

My dad doesn't like it because he's a Dodgers fan and the Giants are from SanFran, but he's just said that he'll come visit me when there are Dodgers/Giants games. XD
