Okay, my question here is, should I accept the UNSUB loan? My parents are willingly to pay the two thousand straight up in order to avoid the interest rate, while the subsidized one they are willingly to let me keep. I want to ask if I should or should not accept it?

Please leave feedback.

Where do you go to find that out? Do you have to complete the Mandatory Tasks first?

I found out through my ACS email. It should have sent you an email. I’m not sure about that task though. I forgot.

I got the “Instructions to Accept your 2009-10 Financial Aid Awards” email today. Did you have to log on to see whether you’re Accepted/Confirmed?

Sometimes its online before they send you the email…
It should be in Financial Aid >> Application Checklist >> 2009-2010 Web Award Acceptance

I dont think you should accept the unsubsidized loan. If your parents have 2000 for you just in case you need it, then the loan is really unnecessary I think because you end up paying more to borrow money you already have.

That’s the email blackberry.

Oh cool, I would like more opinions on this .

Don’t accept it. My sibling said that they overestimate the cost of attendance and you don’t need that much money.

I have the same package as you and it seems like they’re cutting the university grants and moving everyone to Cal Grant A to save some money. Suck-o

Ah I see, alright then, I will not accept it. Just asked my fellow teacher on her opinion, and said to pay for it if you have the money, so I guess that’s how it goes!

Do you have to report the waived SIR fee? It says registration fee, but I’m not 100% sure what it means.

All I see under financial Aid is a list of Mandatory Tasks with check marks. No Final Financial Aid package. Has everyone gotten their FA? Put another way, is there anyone else in the same position as me – waiting for their email and Financial Aid package?

how come i didnt see financial package? i clicked on the 09-10 checklist-> Confirm Awarding Assumptions and it said “Financial Aid Office (FAO) is in the process of reviewing your awards based upon your reported changes in awarding assumptions. You will be notified by email when a revised award letter is available for your review.”
???

^ means they are still in review for your FA, just wait.

I got my final award notice today, transfer student & independent living off campus got $9,339 from Cal Grant and $6,246 from UCSD Grant for a total of $15,585. Pretty happy with that.

I’m still waiting to find out how much I’ll get for the Cal Grant A. Grrr… come on, legislation! Don’t cut funding for the poor kids! D:

this is how mine came out

ACAD COMP GRANT (GL-1) Confirmed [750.00]

CAL GRANT B Stipend NEW Unconfirmed [1,551.00]

Plus Loan(Optional): [11,923.00]

FEDERAL PELL GRANT Confirmed [5,300.00]

STAFFORD LOAN-UNSUB-NEED Ready to accept or decline [2,000.00]

STAFFORD LOAN-SUBSIDIZED Ready to accept or decline [3,500.00]

Totals: 25,024.00

How come I didnt get the UCSD grant and federal workstudy that I received in the preliminary award? And what exactly is Plus Loan?

S-Dub: You should call Financial Aid and ask them. Appears to be an oversight.

Concerning the Cal Grant portion of our financial aid packages, let’s get something straight.

Does the fact that our Cal Grants are <unconfirmed> (and thus not acceptable right now) reflect the fact that the government still needs to pass the state budget act in order to officially issue Cal Grants? I am concerned about this because I too have “unconfirmed” cal grants. (i am a continuing undergraduate)</unconfirmed>
