^You need to file FAFSA every year that you’ll attending school.
I filed one this year (incoming college freshman) using estimated tax figures from 2014, in order to get it done within January.
I now have my tax figures from 2015 (current), but is it really necessary to update it and send my FAFSA out again, if my numbers haven’t changed much year-to-year?
Yes, you should use the IRS Data Retrieval tool to get your 2015 numbers and update it.
If you want to get aid for the 2016-2017 year, you have no choice but to update your information by filing the 2016-2017 FAFSA.
