So my best friend is in the 4th stage of this chronic disease…
It’s been pretty tough for us and her fam, but she’s been doing a little better recently
Personal details aside, she might not be the brightest, but she’s a good person and is really studious.
Her grades have dropped like a lot recently because she hasn’t been to school for like 5 months and is on some “plan” for kids w disabilities or illnesses. Her rank dropped from the teens to the fifities out of a class of 480. She’s getting all stressed about it, but I honestly think it’s fine to have a drop like that because she has a legit reason. Am I right or is she right? Honestly, I think it’s amazing that she still cares about grades after everything she’s gone through, let alone get stressed about them. She can still get into a decent college right? Maybe WUSTL level? (It’s our dream school and I know it sounds ridiculous to go together but just stick with me) I thought you could leave a note, or even write your college essay about this obstacle and it’ll make your app look good, even if the numbers aren’t that great. So how does this work? thx
She needs to worry about her health, not about where she’s applying to college right now. Her guidance counselor will discuss her medical absences and their effect on her grades/class rank in the counselors’ letter. She doesn’t need to mention it at all unless she feels that she wants to.
