My high school has majors - ie Chem major where you take AP Chem, Bio major where you take AP Bio, a law major where you take double period AP US & AP government, and more.
Basically, I can't pick my own separate classes - meaning if I went into law major, I would have to take BOTH AP US & AP gov, even if I personally didn't want to take AP US and wanted to just take AP gov. The same goes for the other majors.
(^I hope that didn't sound too confusing. I wished my school would just make a list of all APs and let me sign up for all the APs I wanted to take. -.-)
I ended up choosing Media major (double period of graphic design junior year, film senior year) because I wasn't interested in the science majors and I didn't want to take certain classes the other majors offered. Also because the media major is easy and I figured I'll have more time devoted towards other subjects.
Will colleges penalize me for choosing a major without APs versus choosing a major with APs? I know colleges look at the # of APs offered and the # of APs taken. Will the fact that I didn't choose a major with APs because I wasn't interested mean that I didn't take advantage of the APs offered?
Side note: I'm doing really well in Media (98) and my teacher loves me so hopefully I can get a really good rec letter from her. I'm also taking other APs.

I think it depends on the other/amount of APs you’re taking outside of the “major.” What other classes do you have?

Those aren’t really majors. They won’t care that much, but taking easy classes will affect your course rigor.

That’s cool that your high school has majors by the way But I think it shouldn’t really matter. What matters is the AP classes you take outside of your major.

@Robot: Yeah, who cares about college? This IS a college forum, anyway. No one gives a crap about where you go after high school here.

community college FTW

Take Physics. Nuff said.

come visit me at community college okkkk

see you

but how will colleges know if they’re easy classes or not?
im in AP us & AP eng, i would take AP physics but i wouldnt have lunch if i did. i wasnt in trig honors/didn’t get 95+ in reg trig so i couldn’t go to AP calc

Do you live in NY and go to the school I think you do, based on what you describe? If so, all the colleges know your school and will fairly evaluate the degree of difficulty.
