I've decided to take five AP exams for junior year and I'd appreciate some suggestions for changes.

I will major in economics.

Exams I'm taking:

AP Microeconomics (I have a high school class for this)
AP Macroeconomics (I'm taking an Intro to Macro course at a college & partially self-studying)
AP Statistics (Purely self-study)
AP English Language & Composition (Purely self-study)
AP Environmental Science (Purely self-study)

Any suggestions for changes? I can't take Calc AB, Chem, Psych, English Lit, Euro History, or Bio because I'm taking those in senior year (well, several of them if not all).

My concerns are

1) Manageability for self-studying: I can't teach myself German and Computer Science with no prior instruction! That's a dumb example but you get the idea, it has to be realistic.

2) Rigor: I want it to be impressive (albeit very slightly at top schools) on my application when I have good AP scores, so I can't just take all of the easiest ones.

Here are the 10 that I am considering. As you can see my current 5 are drawn from this list.

Comparative Government & Politics
English Language & Composition
Environmental Science
Human Geography
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
Statistics
U.S. History
U.S. Government & Politics
World History

The economics exams are pretty much set in stone at this point. Please remember that the other 3 exams besides econ will be purely self-studied.

Admissions officers don’t think that any AP tests are “jokes”. Self-studying is impressive anywhere. That being said, it probably won’t be above you to handle those classes and/or the exams.

lol you are too funny. Sure. Study for ES/Psy in a week. I don’t think everyone wants to sit down for 8 hours each day pounding down Psych or ES.

What other classes are you taking junior year? If you’re taking honors U.S. History, for example, taking APUSH would make more sense than taking AP World.

English Language is sort of useless if you’re planning to take English Literature. That is, it will look good for college admissions, but if you want credits, English Literature overlaps the Language.

For statistics, the teacher taught us how to use the graphing calculator properly, but you can probably get those online. I thought some parts of the statistics books were hard to understand. Make sure you buy a decent book (textbooks have too much info, Barrons is sometimes unnecessary and confusing in its supply of extraneous info).
