So my letter should come today...I'm pretty positive it will be a letter of deferral. I applied for film production and I know it's very competitive but LMU was my top cjoice and my spirits are pretty broken...it was my only non-Virginia school so I guess just like the rest of my friends I'll be stuck in Virginia for the next four years as well. I read somewhere that less than ten percent of the deferred people get in...hope that's not true.

Tell us what it is. And I don’t think it is 10%, most people who got deferred are eventually accepted.

@myvalidusername… my d is feeling the same way today. A friend of hers was accepted to the film production program last year and is currently a freshman. Evidently, they over accepted for that major last year. So maybe they are being cautious this year?

just got the mail. no letter.

My daughter got her deferral letter today. She also applied to film production. I understand the idea that there may be better candidates in regular decision, but shouldn’t these kids get some points for applying early action? Otherwise, what’s the incentive to apply early?

still no letter! gah

EQUALS DEFERRED WAHHH D:

Deferral is so disappointing, I know, but don’t totally lose hope. D is a graduating senior this year in Production, she confirms the over-enrollment issue. They probably are being conservative with EA just to see the entire pool of applicants. It is probably worth making contact at least once with both admissions and department of your first choice interest. Good luck.
