My mom is disable and she nowhere can afford college for me. She get less then 1,000 a month and I already did my fasfa and it still isn’t enough I being trying to find grants and stuff but I haven’t got any answers back. In august I go to college and still don’t know what to do I really wanna go to college because I’ll be the first in my family to go. How do I get almost most of my college years paid off by my mom being disable and income less than a 1,000

Stats?

What college are you planning to attend?

Filing the FAFSA makes you eligible to borrow the ~$5500/year federal student loan. Your family income will also likely make you eligible for a federal Pell grant of up to $5k/year. The other common source of aid comes from colleges, but if yours intended to award you any it would have been in your package.

What state are you in? Many students start at cc. Is there a community college within commuting distance of your house?

Hold it…have you already accepted admission at a college…with no real way to pay for all of it?

As noted…it sounds like you would get a full Pell Grant of $5900 if income is $24,000 a year ($1000 a month). You would also get a Direct Loan of $5500.

Can you go to a community college and live at home? That $11,400 should, cover the cost of tuition, fees and books at a CC.

What college are you currently hoping to attend?

DO NOT START COLLEGE WITHOUT THE MEANS TO PAY!!!

Do not do what some kids naively do…and that’s start college w/o the means to pay. They end up having to leave AND they are handed a huge bill that they MUST pay before they can ever go to another college. So they’re stuck.

What state are you in? What are your stats?

Do not take any classes this year. Instead, work/save, and let us help you come up with a better list of schools to apply to. Do not take any classes…not even any CC classes.

You WILL go to college.
However in order to help you we need to know what college, its net costs, and what state you live in. It’s also be helpful if you could give us your GPA and sat/act score.
Do you know what you’d momentous major in?
You may have to push attending college by a semester if you don’t have the money, but all the people here will try their best to guide you and make sure you end up there.

It would help to know your stats (GPA/SAT/ACT) and what state you are in. Are you a first generation college student by any chance? There are options to help you, but people here need more info. No one is just going to step in and cover your cost just because your mom is disabled.
