IDK what's wrong with my mom. She's making me take all of these really hard academic classes and she still expects me to get all A's in them. It's crazy. I'm gonna be a sophmore next year taking the pre-IB program and what she wants me to do is stop taking chorus and double up on MYP Chemistry and MYP Physics. I REALLY do not want to do this because I want to be able to go at my own pace, and chorus is something I love. I don't know how to tell her...but we're both going to the guidance consuler and I hope she'll be on my side of only taking one science class. :(

Although it is harsh, your parents want the best for you. But do talk it out with your mother to solve the problem.

If you're taking all the Pre-IB classes you need, which I'm assuming is English History, MAth, and Science (thats how it is at my school as I am also a rising sophomore in Pre-IB classes) I don't see the need for an extra science class, especially if you don't want the class or need it. I don't think your mom or the counselor can force you to take that extra science class, and if you really love chorus, I say just try to stick with that. Have some fun. We all need at least one easy class.

Explain to her why it's impossible. Tell her you'd like to put a lot of effort into every class and you can't do that if you take too many. It's a perfectly reasonable idea, especially if you give her time estimates so she knows what she's working with. Is she close to you? Does she know how much homework you get, how much time you spend studying, how demanding your high school life actually is?

Example of what you might say:

"If I spend an hour a day on math, an hour a day on English, two hours a day on physics, and two hours a day on history (my weak subject), that means I spend six hours a night doing homework. I wake up at 5:30 am, so to get eight hours of sleep a night I'd have to go to bed by 9. I get back from school at 3 but I've got varsity football until 5, so that gives me four hours a night to do homework and relax. Clearly I can't accommodate this schedule unless I cut back study time on each subject, which I don't want to do because I want to do really well in all my classes."

Argue like that, and your parents are well on their way to seeing reality.

thats fizix...i will talk to her about that. because i do really have a demanding schedule. i play tennis and school and do some clubs so a lot of that will add to stress.

stress is good for the...
