My mom thinks I have ADD...

I do not think I have ADD, but my mom is concerned that I might.

I am a forgetful person, and I frequently forget things that my mom asks me to do.

However, when it comes to school, I very rarely miss deadlines.

At times I do find it hard to focus, but doesn't everybody?

I also am an extreme procrastinator...my procrastination isn't even limited to school or chores, I procrastinate presumably pleasant things like buying books I want to read...or reading them.

I think this is caused by my lack of motivation, not an inability to pay attention...my mother is still not convinced.

I’ve got the exact same situation! I went to my doctor and they said that my symptoms were classic for ADHD, but as my grades were so high, she didn’t think it was a huge problem and that counseling and stuff would help. I never got counseling though and now I’m just lurching from deadline to deadline trying to stay afloat and beat the procrastination!

Thanks for your reply!

If you don’t mind, could you elaborate on your situation a little? I don’t feel like my symptoms match ADHD/ADD very well, but I do know that the procrastinating makes everything harder than it needs to be…

I’m about to start freshman year, but I had really high grades all throughout middle school…I know that is not really an accomplishment, especially by CC standards, but many kids with ADHD struggle to do that.

I just realized that I never actually stated a question or anything in the original…so my question is, has anybody experienced something like this and has found ways to cope with it? Or, if you know a lot about ADHD, is there a legitimate reason for me to be concerned about it?
