My open-ended rant

Lets ALL CALM DOWN... lol. Let the S**T ROLLL!!! What's wrong with ya Knight?

Though I agree with Eckie with her thought on cheating, I can't sit back and watch CityKnight get put down for his views.

If one of you has attended both a private and a public institution, by all means, please put this argument to a close.

But until we find someone that went to both, saying that one is easier or harder to get A's in ... is completely opinion.

I wouldnt say I'm offended; I just ignore dumb comments.

Wow, I can't even comprehend the ill will that you just wished on me. You don't know me at all. You hope I don't get into Penn?

Golly...

ANYWAYS:

I'm not allowed to feel insulted when he makes demeaning comments about public schools?

What am I sposed to say?

"Oh, it's ok... Private schools are much better than public schools"?

Of course I'm gonna feel offended.

AJ is right, I should just ignore it, but golly.... I can't believe that one guy wished for my rejection! That is mindblowing! I can't even comprehend how somone would be that vindictive!

You know what, you're right. I overreacted, and I do apologize for that. All I can claim is that I jumped to a friend's defense. I am sorry.

Nevertheless, you definitely were offensive. And you don't know Eckie as well. I was with you until your retort to her post about giving up soccer to pay for her schooling. She's a remarkably mature person, and as her friend, I find your comments insulting.

Now, if you are going to disagree with her, do it logically. Prove that Maryland public schools, especially the ones in Eckie's district, are harder. Don't resort to ad hominem attacks. I just did, and I actually do regret that.

i just don't know what to say. it's a rant post. deal with it. nothing said was offensive, bashing, or blatently untrue until you got here, city.

i've cheated on girls but not on tests.

put that in your blunt and smoke it...

Chill out guys. Seriously, you're all making broad generalizations about all public and private schools...some public schools are really good, some aren't...same with private. I think on a whole, the average private school is better than the average public (one is free and the other you pay for...duh!), but top private and public schools are very similar...and private schools often lack an essential element in any schooling environment: diversity. So please, back off and if you want to still argue futily at least use specific examples from your schooling to defend your argument and not just say "you're a bad person" (ad hominem arguements always rule!)

The implication was that she has the right to complain because she isn't a rich kid, she works to get into private school, that's peachy, but nobody has a right to attack public schools.

I go to a Baltimore City Public school, I'm in the state of Maryland, and I don't know where you folks live, you just said in Maryland. Is it unreasonable to feel attacked?

"futily" is a word?

city: yes. worst case scenario, she said grading is tougher in her school, and she would probably get an A at a public school. i don't really support the validity of that statement (as noted elsewhere), but it's not an attack. i dont think your reaction was warranted.

but i for one will sign not to post on this thread anymore. u want the last word? take it. then let this thread die. it's getting us nowhere positive

Ok, lets all put this to rest and say we're sorry. ;-). I go to a public school and I believe it's more difficult to achieve certain desired grades in certain private school around the neighborhood (my observation, some may disagree). But, I do believe that if someone wanted to get an A in their course, regardless of whether it's a public or private school, he/she would work to do whatever it takes to get the A. And, besides this fact, it shouldn't even be about the grades. To me, grade hungriness is wrong. You should learn for the sake of learning and not for the grade.

cheating on girls is just as bad, if not, in my opinion, worse.

Esquared: "haha, loads "off" fun

YOU (26e) METICULOUS FREAK"

I concur.

is it? idk, it could be

lucky: grades cause hell everywhere. ideally, at least private schools should move to a written eval format, where there's no competition for rank and grades. thats my opinion

Actually, CityKnight, I believe bashing public schools is covered under the First Amendment. Therefore, she does indeed have a right to bash public schools.

Oh, and Eckie is a girl. Capisce?

And she didn't bash. She said the grading at her school is harder than at most public schools. Do you have evidence to the contrary, because you have yet to present any?

megalomaniac: shes no proof either. lets not forget.

No. But the burden of proof rests with CityKnight, since he seeks to contradict her statement. She is clearly the defense in this case. The burden of proof always rests with the prosecution.

i will mock trial your a** into the ground if you don't let this thing die

i offer everyone here a peace pipe when we get to penn

Fine! Congrats on making the big round number, btw. But City better back off Eckie.

yeti, what goes in the pipe?

isn't ranting supposed to be about freaking out over things just cause you can? do you really have to be completely correct with all of your statements? what happened to good old exaggeration?
