My "Other Recommender" dilemma

Hey CC, if you guys could offer me some advice on a situation I’m having, I would be eternally grateful.

For some of the colleges I’m applying to, there’s an allowance for “other recommenders”. I asked one of the staff adviser of one of my clubs for a reference (he knows me fairly well), and he asked me to send him my resume. He sent me the resume afterwards and to my dismay, he literally made a laundry list of every item on my resume, including my SAT scores/AP exam scores. It was worded quite eloquently (he’s an English teacher), but I digress.

He of course talked about what I’m like as a person, but I feel like the laundry list he made would make it seem like I just asked an adult to copy and paste my resume on a recommendation letter. I asked him to remove the parts where he just talked about what I had on my resume, and he said that he wants to leave it in there to “substantiate” what I have and to show the adcoms what a great student I am (I believe he was referring to the list of my test scores).

So the big question is, should I unassign him as a recommender from my colleges?

Nope, colleges recognize different people have different writing styles and if you feel confident he knows you well, his rec letter only boosted you. So, I say keep it and it really can’t hurt you so much if colleges are criticizing of it( which they won’t unless they are really really really really really really really really top ones). But they won’t and it will help you. Can’t emphasize that more lol. Keep it.

@master1006‌ Okay :).
