I submitted my FAFSA a week ago, with my mom and stepfather filing joint taxes and putting both of their info in. Unfortunately, my stepfather left my mom and I today. Now I'm left with a single parent income, and it will make a significant change in the money I have available for college. Is there any way I can change my FAFSA? Or just do a completely new one?

You may request a special circumstances review to remove your stepfather’s income. Don’t do a new FAFSA. Contact the school and ask them if there is a form you need to fill out. Each school is different.

This happened to me too. I emailed my school and they were very helpful. It’ll be okay!
