I just got mine today.
But the thing is, the status shows that Penn hasn't received my payment...even though on the common app the payment status is "Downloaded".

Did this happen to anyone else?

Did this happen to anyone else?

yes that happened when i applied
as a matter of fact, i sent in a fee waiver and it never showed up on the Penn Portal and i was still accepted ED
dont worry they're more interested in the actual app. they can always harass u 4 the payment l8er.
and it takes a while for you to get the Penn Portal, since the deadline was 1/1 id wait till probably mid. Feb b4 i give them a call

mid feb, aight.

I don't need my penn portal ID to fill out any of their FinAid stuff do I?

I sent in my app on the 17th and I still haven't received mine. So a few days ago I emailed Eapps@admissions.upenn.edu for lost username/password and about an hour later I received an automated email with my login and password, then I set up my own password. I geuss the letter in the mail will come eventually...

I just received my Penn Portal letter yesterday when I got home from school. (I applied on the 30th.)

My friend who applied on December 3rd got his a week ago, and was just called for an interview.

You don't need your Penn Portal for financial aid, but you do if you wish to complete it online.

I still haven't gotten my Penn Portal and I applied in mid-December... I got an email a few weeks ago saying it would arrive by mail, but it never did.

Hi everyone,

I applied right on the deadline and still haven't received my Penn Portal stuff. Judging by the other posts on this thread, Penn seems to be pretty erratic about emailing/mailing this out. Should I just wait and see or give them a call? And if I do call, who should I talk to (doesn't have to be the name of a specific person, just like a department or the admissions office)?

nickel75: Oh wow that's a smart idea. What did you include in your email? Name and anything else?
I'm still waiting for mines. I didn't even get any emails...

I just emailed and in the title I said "Lost Username" then I wrote a short message saying that I lost it and signed my first and last name at the end, but I'm sure they probably just match your name with the email account it was sent from, so make sure to use the email account (if you have more than one) that you listed on CommonApp

okay i havent received ANY NEWS WHATSOEVER ABOUT ANYTHINGG!! :(
am i even considered an applicant? hahha i feel so out of the loop.
anyways i was wondering, since on the penn finaid papers it says they PREFER online forms but since i havent gotten my pennportal info yet, what should i do? be annoying and submit the paper version?

Hey for those of you who got your portal and checked the stuff they received, is anyone missing a teacher rec even though you sent 2? I mean it says a rec letter is outstanding while they received one of them in mid Dec so I'm kinda worried since both were probably sent at around the same time.

Mine says they haven't received anything other than Application/Supplement/Test Scores. What the heck...

I haven't received my Penn Portal either, but they sent me this week a mail saying that they received my financial aid package...uhm... :-|

No PennPortal yet for me.

ok. somebody mentioned that they had a problem with their software and had to print and then scan everything.
does somebody have more detailed information?
moreover, is the penn portal ID the first thing you get from the college or did everybody get like a "thank you, we received your application" mail?
im so frickin worried.. :(

^ I think they prefer online > fax > paper?

I faxed my tax forms to them and I got an email saying that they received it..

Thanks nickel75! Maybe I should try that!

Same for me Mr. Prez. I got my letter last week to set it up and still only the application and essays are checked off. Even the payment which says "Downloaded" on the CommonApp website still shows up as Outstanding.

I got mine last week. Submitted 12/29.
There's still information missing. I guess they still need to process.

SoCaliii, Mr. Prez, mwproven, and Eryi - I have the same problem!

Everything but App/Supplement/Test Scores is listed as Outstanding, even though I sent everything by Priority Mail in mid December and received confirmation that it arrived at the right post office.

I almost wrote an angry email but was able to restrain myself to just asking clarification on the above :)

O and did anyone else find the registration process for the PennPortal to be tedious and pointless? I mean is it necessary to have a 20 char password with caps, lowercase, numbers, and symbols?

LOL mintjingle I agree the password is soooooooooo pointlessly long...I mean seriously why would anyone try to hack your account? I mean there are a million better ways to steal information lol. I just repeated my usual password like 4 times to fill the requirement lol.

Also I guess the stuff we're all missing is just piled up in a room somewhere...hopefully they'll sort it out as soon as possible.
