hmm...I have just looked up encomium and it is quite different from what I had imagined its meaning to be :o so I guess your s/n only creeps out the ignorant who imagine it to be the name of a killer, intelligent robot versus "warm glowing praise"

Lol

I always loved the word "encomium"

and i've always loved the word "money" :)

You'll fit right in at Princeton, then.

many words have so much more meaning for you since you know latin. i checked out latin for dummies and had a great time reading their mock dialogues but that's about it. oh well, latin's on my to do list.

Latin changed my life.

jesus changed my life.

i have thus withdrawn my acceptance to princeton and enrolled at bob jones university.

may you all be saved, and goodbye forever. the internet is for the heathen.

really enco? could you go into more detail. our school does not have a latin curriculum, much to my dismay.

ilcapo...what's sad is i actually know people who believe the internet is for the heathen :p

Latin has made me a smarter, more analytical person and exposed me to the greatest, most artistic poetry I have read.

[cries]

You threaten on a regular basis to enroll at BJU, ilcapo.

wow...that sounds absolutely incredible and beautiful. but what do you do with a classics major?

Well I want to get a Ph. D and teach.

some classics majors become doctors, lawyers, writers, etc.

see, it's people like you that make me want to go to pton...seriously, i really admire that kind of devotion/love to academia/learning. it just leaves me speechless with awe. most people i know just want to be doctors, engineers, or lawyers.

My friend who is an artist wants to do a classics major.

i want to be a writer but not the kind that would require a classics degree; rather, it's the kind classics majors look down upon. :)

And about "bob jones university"... did anyone else get a letter from Jerry Falwell/ Liberty University? It was like, "God has a plan for ou...Come to Liberty University!" It was weird coming from a college prospectus-type letter. I go to church, not to college, to hear these things. I think I posted this on the Yale board waaaay back before, during EA.

LOL! I had no idea that sort of stuff actually got sent out.

Wow I feel so special! Thanks haosquared. I don't think less of doctors, laywers, etc. I just think that that profession is not right for me.
