Hey, IceQube, do you mind if I also start updating what I’m up to in regards to the SAT? BTW, I love this thread because it really keeps me motivated.

Yes :)! Everyone is welcome to post here. This is a thread for high-achievers such as ourselves to keep track of our mutual progress and to motivate ourselves and to share resources :).

Here is my Quizlet homepage, with lots of SAT-prep material

http://quizlet.com/user/Poems/

If I’m adding correctly, that’s a 2310 :)! Great job :D.

You’re not adding correctly… :D

^:. It should be a 40+10+20 = 70 => 2400 - 70 = 2330. Even better job :D.

I have a question about a math problem. Here is the problem:

The integer 90 can be expressed as the sum of z consecutive integers. The value z could be any of the following EXCEPT

a) 3
b) 4
c) 5
d) 6
e) 9

How would you go about solving this problem?

I’m also wondering - is anyone here going to use the 4 free score reports and send his or her SAT scores to colleges?

The answer is D, 6.

I just choose each answer choice and solved it algebraically.

For a, I had (x) + (x+1) + (x+2) = 3x + 3 = 90.

Then for b, I had (x) + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) = 4x + 6 = 90

I kept doing this until I found a choice that gave me a decimal answer for x.

@Ice
Yes, I am using the free score reports to send to my safeties since I don’t want to waste money later to send them there. This includes my flagship state college, which I know my score will get me accepted to with scholarships.

Dear Diary:

I did a lot of targeted math practice today. I have a list of types of math problems that I have trouble on, and today I did all of the Sequence problems, Equilateral problems, and all of the Percent problems in the BB. I feel like I’m slowly but surely improving, and I plan to take a math section in about two to three days. (I haven’t taken a full math section since about a week.)

I decided to take one CR section today, and I did horrible. I haven’t taken a CR section for about two weeks because I’ve been focusing on writing and math. I’ve decided that I will take at least one test on each subject at least once a week. I got 5 wrong on JUST that one section. It was test 5 section 3, I believe. After reviewing my mistakes, 2 to 3 were mistakes that I could have avoided. :0

Despite the fact, that I performed abysmally, I have learned that I need to do some targeted CR practice, based on what I missed today on that one CR section.

BTW, I’m not sure if everyone already knows about this, but a great way to do some targeted practice on any subject on the SAT is by using the database provided for free by Powerscore. :)

You can find it here: [PowerScore SAT Preparation | Free SAT Help Area](http://www.powerscore.com/sat/help/content_bluebook.cfm)

Very frustrated,

YoungProdigy

I don’t think that can cut it. It’s more like extreme-overachievers ;). LOL. And teteatete, great job on the score!

BTW, what do you guys think?: DH #2 vs. 300 Essential Words. I’ve already memorized the first DH book, and by buying the 300 Essential Words, I don;t want to repeat any of the words. Could anyone enlighten me on the matter of whether the DH #2 has some of the same words as the 300 book?

Dear Diary:

I did not really use today efficiently. I did some vocab practice, and made some more notecards. I also did a smattering of grammar problems. I probably should have spent today more efficiently. I also did not get around to taking the SAT I was planning to take because I found out that I had already taken it before … horray for great planning :.

Toward the evening I spent my time with my Princeton Review book and did some more math practice. My problem is no longer the level 5 questions. It is the tricks that Princeton Review and the CB like to throw into the math problems. I keep falling for those. I need to read the questions more carefully.

In conclusion, I wish I had a time machine, so I could go back and spend today more efficiently. My goal is to go through every single released SAT before Jan. 28 so when Jan. 28 rolls around, there won’t be a single SAT concept that I’m unfamiliar with. I also plan to go through the PowerScore database and the Blue Book again :D. I’ll definitely try to make the most of tomorrow :). Good luck to everyone here and welcome to YoungProdigy, who just joined.

Somewhat disappointed in myself,

IceQube

Wow! Great site :D.

I guess, IceQube, that for you and me, tomorrow is the day that we’ll really nail it. I plan to wake up early and really be organized and be efficient the whole day. ****, I’m already hyped for tomorrow to come.

Same here guys. I did a little bit of vocab studying in the morning but that was about it for SAT. I spent the rest of the day working on this ****ing comp sci assignment that was extremely frustrating. Tomorrow I will get up, read some history and do a little bit of math and then do some practice sections. Good night all.

Welcome YoungProdigy ;)

IQ, I did 2009 May today, and got, well, probably 2200.
CR - 2 wrong (misread one question)
WR - 1 wrong (idiom)
Math - 5 wrong

I’m really bad at math I studied Gruber’s yesterday but still couldn’t get a perfect score. After reviewing my wrong questions, I found that four of them are very very stupid arithmetic questions.

There’s one CR question that I still don’t understand. Could anyone help me and explain the question?

Section 5,
Sometimes, much the dismay of my fellow academics, I write about my activities and the activities of my colleagues … I believe their distrust of my work reflects a distrust of me. My work smacks of speculation; I tell stories about people who inhabited the ancient ruins-and my colleagues do not CARE FOR my tales.

“CARE FOR” most nearly means
a. appreciate
b. feel concern about

I chose b, but the correct answer is a. Why?

Thanks! :D

Hey, whats up guys, I had decided yesterday that I will start my day off early, and I have. My schedule for today until 1:00 is this:

7:00-7:35- Targeted math practice

7:40-7:55- Vocabulary

8:00-8:15- Memorize some foreign language vocabulary

8:20-8:45- Re-read Silverturtle’s Writing guide

8:50- 9:20- Breakfast/break

9:30-10:00- Study for Pre-Calc test

10:15-10:45- Targeted CR practice (based on what I got wrong yesterday)

10:55-11:20- Online Spanish course

11:25- 12:15- Read Scientific American and write notes

12:25- 12:40- Do homework

That’s all I have written for now. I’ll update everyone on what I’m doing after I finish all of this stuff. BTW, let me know what everyone is up to, and what your “schedule” is for today.

I can’t ever keep up with schedules, but this is what I have planned for today ^

-Review all the Vocab I got wrong on the 2007 PSAT and the 2006 October
-Finish reading the Life of Pi
-Continue on reading War of the Worlds
-Reread and make notecards of DH 1 & 2
-Write a SAT essay

Great, I’m up too and I’m going to work a little on AP Lang and then I’m going to kill the SATs :).

^ Are you going to take a full SAT test today, or do you plan on just doing practice? Also, in your Quizlet account didn’t you have an idioms set based on, I believe, Silverturtle’s Guide? Because I can’t find it.

^Yes, it’s based on silverturtle’s guide, and it should be public. I’ll check later …

Here it is :)
