As a rising senior, I am astounded by the number of individuals at my academic institution that falsify their college applications. At my school this year, 16 people got into HYPMS, but 15 out of those 16 lied on their application. 4 of those 15 blatantly fabricated their application, while the others simply "exaggerated" their extracurricular activities. I am more concerned about the 4 out of those 15. One of those 4 is on my school council; he's well liked, has decent scores and grades, and he's Japanese. However, out of an egregious academic panic, he recklessly turned to falsification in order to boost his extracurriculars. He even went as far as writing his own letters of recommendations and modifying his own transcript (he changed from A-'s and A's to A+'s, I thought that was just downright paranoia since he already has a 4.0, at our school A-=A=A+).. As his best friend, I am clearly not going to turn him in, but the fact that he got accepted to Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT somewhat encourage the notion of fabrication; not just the light type of falsficiation called "exaggeration", but rather outright fabrication, such as inscribing fake clubs, writing one's own recommendations, or imposing modifications on transcripts.

Now, personally, I am shocked. Isn’t that a federal offense? It should be, isn’t forgery something to be persecuted in court for?

Wow, that is ridiculous and unacceptable. How did that student change grades on his transcript when the transcript is submitted by counselors? By the way, what state are you from?

I don’t believe the part…“modifying” the transcript LMAO. You can’t do that…the school sends it (unless your school does it differently)

Here’s how he modified his transcript: his counselor printed out his transcript upon request and then she gave it to him to give to the principal to sign and make it official and whatnot. What the counselor did not know was that my friend already had a copy of the fake transcript in his school bag.

He had his transcript printed out a month earlier and scanned it to his computer so he could modify it on photoshop. The fake transcript had A-'s and A’s changed to A+'s. He edited the transcript so meticulously that he even had the date suited to match the date in which he would send the transcript out.

Anyhow, so yeah, he had his fake one in his school bag after the counselor hands him the real transcript to give to the principal. From the time to which he leaves his counselor and goes to the principal, he is able to swap those two transcripts, which are virtually indistinguishable besides the grades. During an interval of a minute, he has changed himself from an A-/A student to an A+ student. And of course, the principal signs the fake and sends it off.

Crud, I think I just gave people ideas.

I can’t do that brah, my transcripts are stamped official across the whole page. The only way I can modify my grades are to hack into the school system and modify them… Or do better in school.

How do you know all of this…?

Didn’t this thread have a different title earlier? Haaaaaaaalp, I’m going crazy.

I know because he was bragging around around it earlier this month.

How do you know that the 15/16 people who got into HYPSM fabricated?

Wait, so how exactly does your “rogue school” “exalt” those who fabricate? LOLLL

I sense a ■■■■■

^ its most likely just an exaggeration, similarly, someone at my school faked the majority of her EC’s like captain of a varsity team and captain of some other clubs, and got into cornell, her SAT’s were markedly low for ivies, and she faked many awards and medals.

How do i know this? I read her application(she was my friend).

I don’t understand how people do this…I thought everything was checked by counselors and before it was sent in. What awards can you fake anyway? it’s not like you can just put down “siemens finalist” and expect them to believe it.

^ unfortunately, my school is huge, and we have one college counselor and over 4,000 students. Thus, the college counselor does not check anyones application to see if they are lying.

And to be more specific, he did not fake the awards on his application. The awards that he won( he had to apply for the awards/medals with an application) and he faked his stats on that application.

Another reason why I bring this up, is that he was not just accepted, but received a likely letter.

I mean to be fair a chick who was kicked out of my school for stealing from other students’ dorm rooms, while under the pretense of doing room checks as a prefect, got into Rice and Vanderbilt because she made up a reason for leaving my school. I believe she said that she had been depressed instead of being disenrolled.

^Perhaps being dis-enrolled made her depressed?

haha

10 char

Umm Danny why does your friend’s sex change in one day? O.o

^Perhaps she’s bi-winning?
