Just this year my school changed their longstanding policy on GPA: previously the policy was an A+ is a 4.33, an A was a 4, and an A- was a 3.67 (same for all other grades). The new policy is retroactive and makes it so all variations of an A are now simply a 4, and this drops my GPA from a 3.7 to a 3.5 (I had many pluses and no minuses). How much will this affect my chances with colleges? (I also have an ACT score of 34)

Colleges will revamp your GPA regardless of what system you use. Your system is different from my system which is different than the schools who have GPA’s up to 10, etc. They’ll look at your GPA the same way they look at everybody else’s GPA, regardless of what your transcript says.

a high school could have a weighted gpa on something like a 48.294752822314566266, but colleges will always scale it down to 4. They will look at your UW gpa, ignore the weighted. Although it isn’t COMPLETELY ignored, since how you fared in more rigorous/AP classes will be a factor in your application.
