So....are you finding that your school's guidance is the "best"
or .....do you have the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach
as you approach their office and wonder ...now what new
things have they done to make my life more.... :D

Personally my counsellor has been rgeat though junior year and now
I guess the stress is beginnign to get to me...before I vent I decided
to post ....and see what others had to share.....

I love my guidance counsellor. I think the counsellor favors me above a lot of students =P which may contribute to why I like her haha. I'm sure she'll write great stuff about me. That's why.

My guidance counselor doesn't know anything outside of the state schools, so she really can't help me much. I like her though because she is fun to talk to.

I used to think my guidance counselor was great, before she convinced me that not having any free periods my senior year was a good idea.

Though there is a guidance counselor who likes to ruin peoples' lives. One of my friends had her. and this friend is dyslexic and can't fill in those bubble sheets they have for the SAT, and the counselor didn't bother to fill out the forms that would have gotten help for her. so when my friend complained after she bombed the test, the counselor told her- exact quote- "SATs just aren't that important."

My D's GC met with her the other day for the 'senior meeting'. As she went through my D's preferences she repeatedly ignored her wishes; "what size school do you want--from 2--5 thousand, 5--10 thousand, over 15 thousand?" D- "I want 5--10 thousand; not too big, not too small." GC "well, I'll just put 'over 15 thousand, then." She kept doing this until the computer program said "Temple", her alma mater! My D found this amusing. The GC spent the rest of their time together trying to talk my D into applying to Temple. Good thing we do our own research....wonder how many kids she swayed? Wonder if she gets some kind of kickback? lol...

My guidance counselor is both pretty competent and likes me a lot. She's both the director of student services and head coach of the academic team at my school, so she's really busy and doesn't have a whole lot of time.

She's great. Summer when we get schedules, they say we can't change lunch periods or teachers but I asked to change my schedule around and she worked her ass off to change it for me.

Best person ever and I'll remember most besides my homeroom teacher.

My counselor really likes me because I played golf for three years (he thought that was like the coolest thing ever XD). He never tries to make my life harder, pretty much just lets me do whatever I want, as long as it's okay with my parents.

Like last year, they tried to put me in this crap US History class that I would have failed because I would have gotten bored and stopped trying. So I wanted to switch into APUSH, and to do that we have to get counselor approval. So I went over to him and he was just like "Okay, sounds good." No hassle, nothing.

I've met my guidance counselor three times. She seemed to be kind of annoyed with me. I think I came off as being pretentious. She probably only vaguely remembers my name right now.

Guidance counselors at my school seem not to like the smart kids. Not that they dislike them, but even if someone clearly demonstrates he/she is capable of taking a higher level class, they're often still not allowed. By that point, most people get their parents involved, and then they finally relent.
