My UC essays go way over the word limit

My UC #1 essay is about 500 words, and my #2 essay is 800 words, giving me a total of about 1300 words. Is 1300 words way too much since they're only supposed to be 1000 words total? Or are they lenient on the limit? Thanks.

I heard you should never go over the world limit that much, especially with ucs. They want to see how effective of a writer you are, and want to know if you can follow the guidelines. My counselor who went to a UC personal statement workshop recently told me that i should not exceed 1025.

My teacher, who went to a UC admission workshop..or something of that sort, said that it electronically chops your essay to fit around 1,005 words or so. So when the admissions officers receive it, they can only see 1,005 ish words. She sounded pretty legit so I would be cautious if I were you..especially if your ending is essential.

Yes, 1300 words is way too much.

You'll need to cut it down. There's a thread stickied on editing.
