UC Essay Length?

They say a "little over 1,000 - 1,012 words, for example — is fine."

What would be considered "over" the word limit for the UC prompts. I think my essays might be edging a little more over 1,050...

Would that be a bit too risky? Or should i go back and condense it?

I don't think they'll care if it's 1,050 1,012 may have just been an example. You should be fine.

The application cuts you off at 1012. It wont let you submit the app if your over the limit

so basically, 1012 is the absolute limit?

no. 1012 was simply used as an example. but i think 1050+ is pushing it. keep it low. shave off some extra words that dont' really serve to answer the prompt. i'm sure you can find fluff somewhere or another in your essay

My bad, I thought it was 1012. But I just checked using my app and put about 1030 words and it could still be submitted.
