MyRoc account?

DS visited and interviewed at U of Rochester, after which he received this email:

I received Part 1 of your application for Fall 2014 admission. This is the first step in the application process and I'm delighted that you're interested in challenging yourself on our "global village" research campus!

For the next step, please complete and submit the Common Application at www.commonapp.org.

You can track the status of your Rochester application by logging into your MyRoc account at University of Rochester : My Homepage.

Please note that if you have completed an admission interview for Rochester, you have already completed a Part 1 application with your interview form. If you have any difficulties with your log-in and password, please contact us.

This seems to imply that he should already have a MyRoc account, but they never sent him login information (nor did they give it to him at the interview). Is that something that will happen after he submits the Common App or should he just use the option to create a new account? We obviously want to make sure his MyRoc account is properly linked to his application (which Rochester considers to be already started because of the interview).

He will create his own MyRoc account. No link or password from Admissions needed.

Go to the rochester.edu admissions website. There’s a link on the upper left corner where it says “MyRoc”. Click on it and there will be 2 options: Log In and Create MyRoc Account. Choose the latter and new page will open where he will fill his info and choose a password.

Admissions will use his name and other identifying info to link the account to his application.

(All the interview has done has opened an admissions file for your son. It hasn’t created a MyRoc account. Most applicants interview after creating a MyRoc account which is why the message reads the way it does.)

I am pretty sure that to have scheduled an interview, your child had to create a MyRoc account. No worries if he has to create a new account because he forgot the login information, though. As posted above, the admissions office will link the account to his application.

^^You can sometimes do a walk-in interview without scheduling ahead of time or creating a MyRoc.

We did schedule the interview. So maybe he does have an account. Maybe the browser remembers the username/password ;-)

He actually does have an account – thanks for helping us put 2 and 2 together.

Another question – since U of Rochester does consider AP scores, should they be formally sent? He has already sent an ACT with writing (35) and a single SAT II score (800 Math level 2). He has 3 AP scores that he self-reported on the Common App:

5 - Calc AB
5 - Physics C Mech
4 - English Lang

Seems like they could only help, just wondering if self-reporting is enough or if he needs to have College Board send them. Usually AP scores aren’t formally sent until you are ready to enroll and want to get credit/placement for them.

We were told in order for them to be considered they needed to actually see the AP report. Self reporting wasn’t enough. UR was the only school we had son’s sent to before actually being admitted. At least they are there then to be used for AP credit if your son goes to UR.

Thanks, Lakemom. I thought that might be the case.
