Myth or true?

My cousin went to UVA for both undergrad and grad school. She recently told me that URM applicants are treated on the same level admissions wise as an in-state applicants. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks

False. She is confusing the practice we have for OOS legacies.

Just goes to show that just because someone went here, that doesn’t mean they know how admission works!

@“Dean J” Thank you for clearing this up and yes I know what you mean about admissions haha!

Unlike a couple other flagship universities, UVa is still free to provide some admissions preference for under-represented minorities.

Dean J–if an admitted student (OOS) has a younger sibling applying to UVA will the younger sibling be considered a legacy? Thank you-

A legacy student is one whose parent (step and adoptive parents included) has a degree from UVA.

Oh well…but thanks for your reply…wahoowa!
