Monday 6/4: No changes.
Tuesday 6/5: No changes.
Wednesday 6/6: No changes.
Thursday 6/7: No changes.
Friday 6/8: No changes.
So it’s been a week now that it’s unchanged, yes? Makes me wonder if schools simply generally don’t report to NACAC after the turn of the month, or if NACAC stops updating the list then. (Since you’d think some schools would have come off it during these past few days.)
NACAC doesn’t update anything. Each school has the ability to edit its own entry.
My thought is that the “spots go fast” hype is hype, rather than reality, and that the schools on the list maintain the ability to accommodate a really desirable student for an extended period of time. Edit: and that “availability of financial aid” reflects preferential pricing.
Back from vacation!
Changes from 6/8 to 6/15:
Adds for freshman admission, with financial aid and housing available:
Cabrini University PA
Deletes:
Univeristy of Iowa (sic) IA
Trivia:
UniversIty of Mary Washington VA (formerly listed as Univeristy of Mary Washington VA) corrected one typo in its name, while making another, alas.
Timing could depend on dates for making payments or finalizing study abroad plans. And occasionally students withdrawing to take a WL spot elsewhere. But that’s all just conjecture on my part.
"And occasionally students withdrawing to take a WL spot elsewhere. "
“Summer melt” is a real thing that everyone in the profession deals with. Lots of kids who have deposited decide to get a job, stay home and go to CC/directional, find that they can’t scrape the money together…
Changes from 6/15 to 6/19: none
No change for 6/20.
No changes for 6/21-6/22.
No changes for 6/25.
Changes for 6/26 through 7/2:
Add:
Maine Maritime Academy ME
John Cabot University Italy (“An American university in the heart of Rome”)
Trivia:
Univeristy of Arizona - College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) changed its name to University of Arizona - College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture (CAPLA)
UniversIty of Mary Washington changed its name to Universityty of Mary Washington
Wow! I seriously thought we were completely done with the changes.
The list, scheduled to disappear on 7/1 (per the NACAC website), actually disappeared sometime between 7/6 and 7/11.
Notable activity:
Rowan (NJ) and U Denver (CO) both started out with freshman openings on Friday 5/4, but indicated no additional freshman openings as of Tuesday 5/8. The University of Iowa, added 5/11, deleted its listing entirely on 6/15. These are the only schools on this year’s list where time was of the essence.
Roger Williams (RI) and The Sage Colleges (NY) both started out with no freshman openings on 5/4, but had freshman openings at some later point. The University of Limerick (Ireland) started with no financial aid, but later had financial aid available. Wilson College (PA) started with no mention of transfer openings, but later had transfer openings.
Other than that, there were no posted changes in freshman openings, transfer openings, financial aid, or housing.
The moral I take from this is that schools that don’t fill in the normal application season are unlikely to fill before July; there’s time for some measured consideration.
Thanks again, @allyphoe, for tracking this! Wish there was some plaudit more than marking “helpful” I could offer you for your service.
