Name Misspelled in Letter from Columbia

I got a letter in the mail today about financial aid at Columbia University. To my horror, after I opened it up I noticed that the last two letters of my middle name were missing under the name of the recipient. Does anyone know where Columbia or other schools get their mailing addresses from? I just think the typo was a little bizarre.

Same thing happened to my son. He actually got two of these letters: one with his middle name shortened and one with just his first name. It seems to be just a form letter regarding financial aid available at Columbia, so we’re not worried about it.

I wouldnt worry about it. If it is the same letter I got, its just informing you about the financial aid available. They misspelled my name and mistaked me for a “he” :D

It’s a marketing letter. THat list has nothing to do with you when and if you ever apply. Relax.
