which is more important??
so far, i'm into purdue, univ of illinois at urbana-champaign, and mcgill..
i know that mcgill is probably the best option for name..
but uiuc would be the best option for program (computer engineering)..
what is more important?

UIUC is fabulous and well-respected for Comp Eng. If you get in, you will get a valuable education and one that is well-known within the industry.

most important is picking a school thats a good fit for you (size, type of kids it attracts, advising, housing, etc) and that you can afford. All the schools you mention are reputable schools, you will have no trouble getting a job or into grad school if you graduate with a CE major.

And while nobody can predict what will happen to you specifically, statistics show that between 50-65% of those starting college as engineers end up switching out. So you should consider which one you'd want to attend if you didn't end up with a CE degree.

UIUC and Purdue both have fabulous engineering programs across the board, and UIUC is a national powerhouse in a number of computer-related fields. Virtually all employers who hire engineers, programmers, etc. will know this.

Mikemac makes a good point, and I think UIUC beats Purdue hands down when it comes to most non-engineering fields.

if you plan on going into a career that a CE major is useful in then i think the employers will be aware of the reputation of the program there and take it into consideration.

i'm not sure how mcgills program is but if it is much weaker going there would not be worth it at all. plus, you'll learn a lot less information that will help you in your future career

The strength of your particular program is most important. Which state do you live in? CompEng is strong at Illinois and Purdue.
