Names

I have a hard time remembering people's names. I can do faces fine, but names seem to always slip my mind. I'm going to orientation in a few weeks, and I fear I'll meet some really cool people but not remember their names.

Any advice on how to make sure I remember these people? I want to start making friends early on in the year.

Facebook them as soon as you can.

I’d definitely agree with Cuse. I remember names better when we’re friends on Facebook, as silly as that sounds.

Try to visualize the person’s name as if it was written down after they’ve told it to you. That’s a tip I saw somewhere, never tried it though.

“Do you have a facebook?”
“Yeah”
“You should totally add me”
-or-
“Could you put you number in my phone?”

When you meet them, say something along the lines of “Nice to meet you, [name]”

Okay, facebook totally slipped my mind. Great idea, and it’s easy with cellular devices like Droid now! :)

Write their names down in your notebook along with something you learned about them.

So when you don’t see them in a while, you can say what’s up and something relevant to what you remember about them from what you wrote down and you’ll be more likely to have a connection there that can continue to grow.

‘Nice to meet you, (name)’ works in my opinion, but if it doesnt, i wouldnt really worry about it. most people forget names.

associate thier name with something near you when you first met them. you can build a roman room.
