Narcisstic Number 11?

Since the application asks for a picture "that represents something important to you," if you have yourself in the picture, does that come off across as egotistical? My picture is a picture of myself doign research at 5 a.m., i'm hunched over my laptop working and writing stuff down about to solve an open problem in computer science, and spend some time reflecting on my passion for science. I don't want them to think that this means I'M important to me, but the act of doing all this science instead.

Sorry I think I've posted this on another thread too but this is more general so I decided to make a new one.

i dont think that's egotistical
a picture of yourself isn't necessarily narcissistic if it's for the essay, it's more about what you write in your essay that makes your arrogance more pronounced

Wait what? Sunkist, your post makes it sound like you think my essay is narcissitic...

It doesn't sound egotistical. I'm not sure how much that picture will help your application--your resume will show them that you're a good student. I'm not sure if a picture of you working would convey your love of science. You should put a picture that shows something pretty unique, that makes you you--remember, the adcoms have plenty of good students applying that they turn down, and you need to show a unique part of your personality. Now, if you could include a picture where you genuinely look like you have a passion for what you're doing, it would help.

Well it's at 5 AM. Doesn't working on reserach at 5:00 just for kicks show passion? That's almost how I define passion in my essay (meaning that I realize that it is passion during the essay, and this is how I tell).

I don't know. It sounds like it might just convey that you work hard, which really wouldn't help your application much at all.
