Okay, I've put together a list of schools, and now I need help with narrowing down the list a bit.

What I want to do is to major in astronomy (not just physics) with either a double major or minor in Japanese (though general asian studies would be okay) while preparing for dental school --crazy, I know. I also want to study abroad as much as possible, so a strict required curriculum wouldn't mesh well. So which schools would you eliminate below based on my above preferences?

Cornell University
Dartmouth College
Emory University
Haverford College
Swarthmore College
University of Washington (not WUSTL)
Williams College

Any thoughts? Feel free to ask questions, and feel free to suggest other colleges! Thanks again :D

Yep, UW is my for-sure college. I took a look @ UChicago, but the core curriculum puts me off. What about Harvard for an uber reach? I know that Harvard is considered better for physics studies, but I've heard a lot of nasty things about Harvard, so...yeah

If you have a prayer at your reaches there ARE merit aid schools for you that might be closer to the reaches than UW. Unless of course you love UW...

I have looked in at Earlham, and am contemplating applying.
SBmom: I'd like to hope I have a prayer :D What other merit aid schools would you suggest?

Look at the "merit aid" threads-- lots in parent's forum.

Look at the accept/reject threads from last year for an idea of how much of a prayer you have at the reaches, or the matches & the safeties you select. The list in the first post is all reaches (Emory may be a match) & one safety... you need more matches I think.
