Any tips on narrowing down my list? I'd like to apply to eight schools maximum. I'm kind of quirky, vegan, and kind of manic all the time. I really enjoy talking to different types of people. I'm interested in linguistics and computer science.

safety:
URI
UMass-Amherst
BU (athlete recruit)
Northeastern (athlete recruit)

Match:
Brandeis
NYU

Reach:
Brown (ED)
Cornell
CMU
USC
UIUC

The safeties are all certainly affordable? How does the affordability come out with the matches and reaches?

My grandparents are extremely wealthy and set money aside for me :)

Are there any schools which you like less than your safeties? If so, you may want to drop them.

If know that your safeties are completely assured for admission, do you need four of them? Or do you have four of them because you want two that have no athletic obligation?

I’m not sure how to decide between them. Im definitely getting into URI and have like a 95% chance at the other 3 so i think I’d feel more comfortable with URI on the list. I’m in love with the atmosphere of UMass amherst… And I also want to take advantage of the would-be matches becoming safeties… I’m not sure what to eliminate.

Do you have a personal desirability rank for the colleges? If there are schools which are harder to get admitted to, but which you like less than other schools that are not as hard to get admitted to, you may want to drop the harder to get admitted to schools that you do not like as much.

For example, if you consider UMass a 95% chance, does it make sense to apply to any of the matches or reaches that you like less than UMass?

That’s a good point, maybe I should drop UIUC and USC…
