NASA Internship

Hi Everyone,

I am currently a sophomore and I am thinking about applying to NASA internships, if we want to talk about experience I am probably the only girl at my University who is associated in Space and Aerospace related projects, right now I am working on about 5 research projects and I am doing fine and understand everything and I am enjoying It more than anything ever. I am a student leader at Space laboratory at my college and many more space related projects. There is only one issue that I am facing which is bringing me here today… on NASA’s website it says that I have to have “Cumulative GPA of 2.9 and above to apply” I am a little hesitant and debating whether I should apply or not because currently I have a 2.97 GPA and I don’t know if its even worth it to apply at this point because well… most people that apply there literally have a 3.9 or 4.0 GPA… I am looking to apply to Software Engineering and Computer Science related jobs as that is my major and I know how to code in 5 different languages and I have many leadership positions but still I feel like my GPA would ruin everything.

I would be happy to hear your thoughts! please feel free to share your ideas! thanks!

Why would you not apply? You meet the grade qualification and have other activities to build you application.

I saw a study once that said the men chased opportunities where they failed to meet or only met a few of the requirements while women were harder on themselves and passed on opportunities they had a chance to get. Go for it and keep going for it.

Don’t be crushed if you don’t hear back. OSSI is a black hole for even the highest qualified applicants. the best “in” is to see if any of the professors you are working with have NASA connections they can refer you to. Good luck.
