I don’t really care what the gender is of the shooter. Clearly, one must have very evil intent in order to do something like that.

Not questioning you, but I thought Presbyterians were some of the most open-minded of the Christian denominations?
As ski mentioned, trans etc has nothing to do with the sadness at this moment. Perhaps it will for affixing motive etc, but that’s for tomorrow.
This tragedy is unspeakable, like every school shooting. My deepest condolences to the families of the small children and the staff/admin, who went to school on a Monday morning and then this horror happened.

Our class of 24 kids are about to be seniors I. High school. When they were in kindergarten their classmates were killed at Sandy Hook. I cried my eyes out for those poor children and parents including one who shared the exact birthday with my S24. And now, 12 years later, nothing has changed. It is disgusting.

And for clarity, it appears that the shooters gender identity has been reported wrong. He is a trans man who was AFAB although it is not entirely clear if they are trans at all.

The Presbyterian Church USA is liberal and inclusive. This school was associated with the Presbyterian Church in America a conservative branch that broke off. No women in ordained ministry, anti-LGBTQ, etc.

Based on 2023 stats/mass shooting rate there will be another mass shooting (defined as 4+ shot or killed) tomorrow. Today’s was the 129th of 2023, the 13th in a school. Today, March 27, is day 86 of 2023.

I have no idea what caused another mass shooting, but I do know that we have

too many guns,
-
too many mentally-ill people, and
-
too much hatred toward those who hold opposite social/political views.
It’s a very bad combination.

I posted on another thread that D’s coworker/friend has a child who attends the school. He is alive, but that family has a trauma that will not be easily overcome. My heart hurts for them.
