<p>In spring of junior year they announce the 50,000 or so students who are commended students. In September of senior year, the students who are semi-finalists and achievement finalists are announced. Announcements come from school, not in the mail. The cut-off for semi-finalists are by state, not city. I don't know what the CA cut-off has been in the past.</p>

<p>Students who are commended should have received something in the mail. If you think you should have gotten something and didn't, contact your guidance office and ask.</p>
