National AP Scholar Award question?

Okay so it states that you need an avg. of 4 and at least 4 or 5’s on eight tests. I took AP biology this year and got a 3, and I’m planning on taking it again next year. Because I’m taking the AP biology test again, will my new score replace the old one? Like I know that if I got a 4 or 5 on the bio test again, it wouldn’t replace my old score on the score report, but will it replace my old 3 for the qualification for the national award?
Thank you!

No; the 3 still gets averaged in.

On the College Board site they say that you may take any give exam multiple times and that they count the highest score toward the awards (see the AP Scholars/Awards pg.). I’d call them and get a definitive answer on this before you loose hope.
Good luck!
