Haven’t heard about scholarship either. 3.8 GPA and 33 ACT. Accepted when the first early action releases went out (which seems like ages ago now).
Same situation here. No word yet. My obsession with the mailbox is borderline crazy. We received a letter from osu admissions today which I was sure was as scholarship offer. It wasn’t. I’ll post something when we find out if my son gets a scholarship. Good luck to all.
Novaproud - I think I’m more obsessed than my son at this point. Now when I walk in the door from work the 1st thing he says to me is, “yes, I checked the portal and No, there is nothing new.” We, too, get excited when we get mail from OSU and then it just more propaganda but no scholarship info. We will post if we hear something - either way. Good luck to everyone who is waiting to hear. Hope it’s soon & good news for all.
@tootiredtocare @novaproud I too am a Mom who rushes to the mailbox in advance of my S getting home from school. We too are waiting. Acceptance came around Thanksgiving and nothing but OSU paper since then. We are OOS so the merit it is critical for him to move this to the top of the list. we are going for a visit in February hoping we have a clearer picture by then.
OOS from Michigan admitted Dec. 20 just received provost and National Buckeye. #1 on my list now go bucks!
@npscholar97, did you get your awards with your acceptance letter or later? People are inquiring about that specifically.
@OregonMom97 Award came today, 1 month after acceptance.
@npscholar97: how did the award come? via portal or in the mail?
@tootiredtocare Mail. You can actually call OSU weekdays and they can tell you on the phone
@tootiredtocare I took @npscholar97 advice and called today and they told me on the phone, too. Buckeye and Trustee. Not bad and definitely now within our reach.
@researchQ Thanks for the post because we are in the exact same boat as you. Acceptance around Thanksgiving and thinking we should get the Trustee and National Buckeye. Which office did you call and did they give you an idea of when the letters would be actually sent? CONGRATS!!
@researchQ @npscholar97- congratulations! great news.
@ohioalum - same boat, too!
I think my son would qualify for National Buckeye and be on the cusp for Trustee (ACT score is high enough but our school doesn’t rank so it depends how they look at his GPA). It’s probably too late to call today but I may have him call on Monday.
Son received the Buckeye and Maximus scholarship notification in the mail today.
OOS
33 ACT
3.99 UW GPA
8/500 Class Rank
@tootiredtocare my S stats sounds like your son’s. His ACT 31 but no class ranking. We are good with Trustee even though Provost would have been nice Good luck!
@ohioalum I just called admissions and asked if they would be willing to let me know if my son “qualified” for merit scholarships. He said he would be happy to look but it is not always reflected in their admissions info as decisions would be right through February. Luckily, he checked and my S letter was prepared on 1/20 so he had the decision in hand. The letter should be here tomorrow or Monday. Good luck and definitely call!
I called Admissions also yesterday. The admissions woman I spoke with was very nice and said that “no decision” had been made yet on my son. She said the out of state applicant pool is stronger than last year. My son’s stats are 3.7 GPA and 1320 CR/M. We are hoping…HARD…since we love Ohio State. (I, my husband, my mom, and my step-father are all alums. )
Congrats to all future Buckeyes who have won a scholarship and good luck to all still waiting to hear. Go Bucks!!
Also, since others have posted concerns about their high schools not ranking students, I asked OSU Admissions about that. The woman said the fact that my son’s high school does not rank does not matter. In that case, OSU will base merit scholarships on SAT (or ACT). Good luck.
@novaproud I too learned that the listed ACT/SAT is the minimum and that meeting the minimum does not guarantee that particular award. I asked only because my S’s ACT was more consistent with provost than trustee (only $1000 difference, but!) They take into account other factors as it is competitive. As I am sure we all have learned through the college app process, who knows what those factors may be??! But we are happy with whatever help we get. We are OOS too.
@researchQ so if you qualify for the national buckeye or any of the other awards this does not guarantee that you will receive it?
@kperunovich If I understood correctly, the awards are still competitive so no guarantee which one will be offered. It may have been more relevant to my question as my S school does not rank. Maybe someone else has more experience with OSU and can give us a clearer answer. If not, its worth a call; they were very helpful.
