National Buckeye Scholarship Notification--The Ohio State University

Congrats to all who have been accepted into The OSU. I am wondering if anyone has received notification of award of the National Buckeye Scholarship yet? (This is the very generous out of state tuition reduction of $12K per year for 4 years.)

GO BUCKS!!

My son received his already with the Provost Scholarship. That came about 2 weeks ago. I think they are releasing them in stages.

Thanks for your reply. Happy for you/your son. My son was accepted in early December but no word yet on a scholarship. His stats were above the minimum–3.7 GPA and 1320 CR/M (school does not rank) and so, we are really hoping he gets a scholarship. It appears that most students who meet the minimum requirements get at least the National Buckeye, but I do realize that OSU will very likely award $ in order of merit. . .until it’s gone. This is a very generous scholarship.

Congrats and Go Bucks!!

GO Bucks… My Son got National Buckeye and Maximus from OSU. . He applied EA. He is from top state school . though His GPA is less 3.5,colleges know that his school is tough on GPA. his SAT is 2330 . FYI

So hang tight, you will get something as your son GPA is good enough to warrant Scholarships

Lightshock–Congrats to your son. I’m an osu alum as are many in my family. It’s a great a university. Sports aren’t too shabby either. Go Bucks! Beat Oregon!

So glad I found this thread. I had seen on a different thread that some already received the Buckeye scholarship & we are anxiously waiting. My son was admitted in early December but no word on the scholarship front. He has 3.5 GPA (school does not rank) and 31 ACT - he has his heart set on OSU but we need the merit $$ to make it happen for him.

Tootiredtocare–no word yet for us on any OSU scholarships. Your son’s stats look strong enough–way over the 28 ACT minimum.

We are in Virginia and my son was accepted in early Dec. While this is just a guess, it appears OSU awarded the National Buckeye along with the higher level additional scholarships first. I saw a recent post where someone got the Provost/National Buckeye. The least competitive additional scholarship is the Trustee. Just getting the National Buckeye alone would be HUGE though—$12K per year.

I don’t pretend to have any insider info on OSU scholarship process, but I am a very nervous mother and have read quite a few posts on these OSU admissions scholarships (Natl Buckeye, Maximus, Provost, and Trustees) from this prior years. I have not seen a single post where a student met the minimum scholarship criteria and did not receive at least the National Buckeye Scholarship. But, that does not mean our students will get it. At my house, we are hoping and praying VERY HARD. I am overly concerned with the time of mail delivery.

Good luck. GO BUCKS!!

Thanks novaproud. National Buckeye scholarship would be enough to make it work for us - anything more would be icing on the cake. My research has yielded the same results as yours - if you meet the qualifications you get the National Buckeye scholarship. However, this year seems like everything is more competitive and more difficult than it was just two years ago when my oldest son was a high school senior so I have been a little concerned.

Good luck to your son, too! Go BUCKS!

Since I am now obsessed with College Confidential, I promise to post a note regarding whether my son gets an OSU scholarship or not. Good luck!!!

Just be grateful that your son has been accepted. We haven’t heard anything yet and are very worried. He applied 10/31, has 3.7, 1230 SAT, 8 ACT and good ec’s. 5 from his school have been accepted. I know it has been a tough year with much competition, but I’m wondering if he still has a chance. Saying lots of prayers as well. Best of luck to you all…

klm529–My prayers are with you. I am an OSU alum and love the university. You are right–it does seem like a very tough year to get into competitive universities. It was not this way when I was accepted into OSU. Back then, I think they accepted everyone–seriously. Good luck!

klm529 - my son’s best friend received a rejection from OSU about the same time my son was accepted so no news probably has more to do with the date he applied than his stats which look good to me (assuming the 8 ACT is supposed to be a 28 - which matches the National Buckeye threshold for the scholarship) - depending on which college your son applied to for admission. hope you get good news soon.

My D received acceptance to Ohio State, but no award package information. I found out via the future student portal. She meets the Buckeye Scholarship requirements and should be eligible for a merit scholarship. I read elsewhere the award packages are sent out a few weeks after acceptance, but that’s just hearsay.

I was accepted on Dec 20 and qiaolofy for Provost and National Buckeye and haven’t received anything yet. Is anyone else waiting on provost? And has anyone who qualifies for it not gotten the national buckeye?

My son received his already but he applied in late September. I believe they are going out on rolling admissions, you should be getting yours shortly.

What if my school doesn’t use class rank?

Metalmonk28–other bloggers on th uhh s site have reported they (or their student) received these OSU merit scholarships where the students school did not rank–so long as they met th err SAT/ACT score requirements.

Would you say I have a shot with a 3.27 uw and a 1440 cr+math?

Would you say I have a shot with a 3.27 uw and 1440 cr+math (super competitive high school)

Hmm that seems strange. I was on the opposite end of the spectrum with admission to purdue, uc riverside, osu, and stony brook.
