national guard

i know this doesnt really relate to umich but i was recently called by a national guard recruiter... i dont really know much about the national guard, the recruiter told me about a bunch of benefits, i talked with my brother whom is a carnegie mellon graduate and he turned down the offer when he was in high school b/c u have to commit a lot of time to it
anyways, long story short... im going to umich, hopefully ill get in ross when i reapply, im majoring finance/accounting along those lines and i wouldnt mind a couple of bucks in my pocket to pay for college, now is the national guard gunna be a waste of my time or shud i sign up? i dont want it to interfere with my academics or my future job, but if its beneficial and theres nothing to lose then ill sign up, gimme some feedback people thx1

ps: this may sound ignorant but i believe the stuff like this, national guard, the army, etc. are jus for people that didnt exceed in academics so they looked forward to serve for the country, me on the other hand i hope to be successful , maybe work on wall street, and doing something like this, i dont want it to hinder or bring me down, soooo... lemme know the pros n cons and if anyone here did it and also attended an elite university/college and found the program to be beneficial

bumppppppp
