Is it worth e-mailing colleges to let them know that I have been accepted into NHS?

definitely its a really good achievement. congrats

Any second opinion?

I don't think colleges place that much importance in NHS since most NHS in schools don't really do anything.

I'm told that schools in the midwest take it more seriously and those on the coasts. At some schools, its a real honor and at others, it just means you have a certain GPA. In our school district, an east coast urban area, eligible kids don't bother applying unless they are desperate for an EC.

im probably the only one who didn't apply for NHS for my school cuz i didnt think it was worth my time o.o

Depends on which colleges you are applying to. If you are hoping for Ivy-League caliber colleges, I doubt they will even bat an eye. For the rest, maybe it'll give your app an additional look...

no, you're not. it's a huge waste of time. your grades and your extracurriculars speak for themselves; nhs is just unnecessary validation of stuff that you've already achieved.
