Every school has different criteria for being inducted into the National Honor Society. So how much does being into the NHS count in admissions and how is it reported to the Admissions Committee just through your resume or is it on your transcript.

An extremely well-covered topic here on CC. NHS doesn’t count that much at all for college admissions exactly due to the point you made. Some schools have extra scholarships, however.

Nonetheless, some participants really enjoy their membership. It’s up to you.

3 rider - Simply being a member of NHS doesn’t seem to count for much these days. Being an officer, i.e. President of your local chapter would help an application appeal to adcoms much more.

^ Exactly. However, my school is sooo lame that we don’t even have positions. :P

Yay for being Co-President! :)

well if you do something as officer then it will help

Agreed. The important thing isn’t the fact that you’re in it (it’s really easy to get into at my school), but the role that it has had in your high school career, if a significant one.
