National Match and College Prep question! Urgent! Please :<

Hi all,

Last year I applied to College Prep(CP), and did not get accepted. This year, I’m applying to QB National Match(NM). When filling out the NM Application, I realized that some of the questions on my CP app was automatically filled in the NM application with the info I provided on the CP app. ( I used the same email for both)

When QuestBridge review my application, would they just read the NM app, or would they also read my CP app? Because on the CP app last year, part of my financial info was incorrect. I didn’t take the app really seriously. Mom and I didn’t really understand some financial terms about the asset/ tax/ income they asked for (I’m an international student), but we didn’t really check the financial terms to see what they actually meant. We just had some faint impression about what they asked for, and answered accordingly.
This summer though, since we need to prepare for the CSS Profile, we discussed about the details and asked other experienced parents who already filled out the CSS. We realized that we misunderstood some type of income, and the meaning of some type of expenses/assets.

So in my new NM app, to fix those errors, I created a totally different account, with different email and such. The birthday dates or other info was still the same though. Just some items on the Income and Assets were changed. But recently, QB merged my 2 accounts (?!). The new one I created was deleted, it seems, since when I tried to log into it, QB said that there’s no account with this email. And when I logged into the old account, the info I filed in the new NM account was transferred to the old one.

What I want to ask is that if QB reviewed both my CP and NM app, and cross-check them, would they have any problems with the changes I made? Or they don’t review my CP app again at all? If they’re dubious about the changes in the financial part, should I email them to explain? When I apply through CommonApp, of course I need to have my financial proof ready. But QB doesn’t require financial documents at all, which makes me worried since it’s easy for them to doubt my credibility if they discern the differences bw the two apps. The differences weren’t that much though, just a few items.

Thank you very much,

@monolid this is an important question that you have and my advice would be to reach out to QuestBridge. Call or e-mail them expressing your concerns. You certainly aren’t the first student that made an error nor will you be the last. In our family’s dealings with QuestBridge I found that both my e-mails and phone calls were returned promptly and the staff was always very courteous. My questions and perceived dilemmas were addressed with no hint of impatience even though more than likely they had answered my exact question 20 times already that day.
You have enough things that you will be anxious about through the application process, contact QuestBridge directly.
You will then have a definitive answer and not a nagging doubt of “gosh I sure hope those people on College Confidential knew what they were talking about”.
