so im a semifinalist and a hopeful finalist.
if i listed my top choice as uchicago, what are the chances that i will get the college sponsored scholarship?? do most people get it if you are finalists or is it actually pretty tough?? the extra grand or two a year will help me out alot. anyone whos been through this yet?

UChicago is a sponsor. I think it's automatic. As far as I know, if you get the $2.5k from NM then the university will deduct it from the $4k ($1k/year/4 years).

It's $1 thousand per year for all finalists who do not receive need-based aid and $2 thousand per year for those who do, renewable annually for four years.

If you are awarded one of the NMC's 2500 one-time $2500 scholarships or a National Merit Corporate NMF award, those override a UChicago NMF award.

Bottom line, you can't get both.

^^^and you can't ask to switch from one type of award to another. (i.e., no switching from a NMC $2,500 one-time award to a UChicago $1,000/yr. award)
