So I just found out I've received a renewable $2,500 four-year corporate scholarship. But I was reading another thread and it sounded as though I may not be able to accept the money because I have already been offered a scholarship at Tulane? Does anyone know what the deal is?

Maybe it is just me, but I always found the National Merit rules to be among the most confusing ever. So I think you are much better off calling BOTH the Tulane FA office AND the National Merit people (in Iowa I think?) and see if they tell you the same thing. My GUESS is that your 22K award from Tulane has nothing to do with any National Merit award. What I think you might have read is that you cannot accept both the Tulane $2,000 per year NMF money and the $2,500 per year corporate money. But again, you would be well advised to check a couple of primary sources.

Oh wow I didn’t even know there was a possibility to receive additional money from Tulane because I won it. I’ll definitely check right now. Thank you!

Oh yes, absolutely check, because there are deadlines, but I know you have time. I think it is May 1, but again, the process, while not complicated, is confusing a little. The way it works is you name Tulane as your first choice school to NM Foundation or whatever it is called. Then Tulane gives you a $1,000 check that you pick up at the FA office a few weeks into each semester. That’s if you take the Tulane one. I don’t know anything about corporate ones.

Now I am assuming that because you got the corporate award you are a NM Finalist. That’s what Tulane gives $2,000 for.
